When: Sunday, Feb. 28
Time: 5:00 - 9:00 PM
Where: The Lakehouse aka 321 E Samford Ave.
What: Art show/ Bake sale/ Live music
Why: To help kick mine and Scott's support raising off the ground
this...

Some pottery from my friend, Rachel Stark...
and I am sure other awesomely wonderful art things.
My amazing, talented friends of The Quiet Words will play an "acoustic set" later in the night. I'm not kidding... it would be worth it just to come listen to them play. I love their music.
And buy some treats such as this...

And why would you want to come support Scott and myself? It is a completely legitimate question. The two of us could tell you two individual stories of how God directed our steps to make this decision to serve college students on a college campus somewhere other than at Auburn University.
But, simply but both of us recognize the great need for God's love to be poured out to college students. There are a million decisions to be made, a million broken hearts, a million idols to be built, and a million struggling students who need to know that God's love is ultimately the answer to all of their issues. As simple as that sounds, it is true.
I have been crushed by idols, I have been crushed by broken relationships, I have felt betrayed by God... when truly He was standing steadfast waiting for me the whole time. I want to share my broken history with others so they may get to know this God that has loved me more dearly than anybody or anything else ever could. I want to be an earthen jar that is broken and when broken the life of Christ shines through.
Ultimately, this is my call to wherever God wants to place me...
from 2 Corinthians 1:3-7,
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort."
RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) - (official description from http://www.ruf.org)
- As a ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America, RUF holds to the core beliefs of historic Christianity which motivate our heart for God and love for the university. Some of these beliefs include the need for new life in Christ, the authority of the Scriptures, and the mission of the Church to reach and equip all people with the message of the gospel.
- The purpose of RUF is to build a community on the college campus that reaches students of divergent beliefs and doubts with the message of the gospel and equips them to love and serve Jesus and his church. As we shape our lives around the gospel we have the opportunity to participate in God's work of changing lives, healing our world, building community, and renewing our culture. We aim to do this by pursuing the following goals:
Growth in Grace
Evangelism and Missions
Fellowship and Service
Biblical World and Life View
Thanks, friends!
