movie dork.

that's what i am. and because i had to stay home the majority of this friday evening (and day for that matter) i am going to blog about my affinity for movie/tv sets. some of my favorite movies to watch over and over are my favorites simply because of the setting or the homes that they take place in. so, i was thrilled to find this blog, hooked on houses. apparently the writer of this blog is a little obsessed with houses too, especially movie and celebrity homes. so, here are my top 5 movie (and 1 tv) houses...

#1 You've Got Mail... definitely my #1. i love this movie so much simply for this wonderful shot right here... the idealized version of new york in the fall. that is my dream. no wonder i was taken aback when i entered new york city for the first time through harlem, and thought... where is you've got mail? it does not all look like this. but in you've got mail it does!
and her shop just adds to the wonderfulness, for sure.

#2. Something's Gotta Give... 2nd fave would be this lovely hamptons home. yeah, you could say i have something for new york. this lovely home is just ridiculously perfect. it would be like kathleen kelly's weekend home.

#3 Gilmore Girls... Ok, a little more on the realistic side... yet still idealistic in its charm. i've told sarah, lorelei and rory make me want to never get married and just adopt a daughter. she said, kate, ya'll would kill each other. she is right. and don't worry i would not really want to do that.

#4 Father of the Bride... early 90's charm at its best. i love this house because this is the kind of house i dreamed of as a kid. maybe because i was a kid when this movie came out. it is the kind of house i dream of raising my kids in... ok maybe it is a little too neat and tidy.

#5 The Holiday... and finally, the charming english cottage in the holiday. it is so quaint and cozy looking. who wouldn't want to curl up in that house for a few days.

I don't know about the actual house, but I agree about movie settings making the movie. Your first two are two of my favorites for that reason.

I have about a hundred comments I want to make about this blog. First of all, can I write a respond blog and link it to yours? It was SO inspiring! Also, I'M WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS RIGHT NOW!!! I also love you said that you've got mail is the idealized version of New York in the Fall. I have to be reminded of that in almost every movie I watch. Most of the time, I just end up wishing me life was an exact replica of theirs. Oh and by the way, here is a super cheezy comment that I totally mean...I love your heart. The end.
