a wedding on the mountain in rural alabama.

last night, one of my childhood friends got married. we always knew the day beth got married, it would be quite the event... i don't think we realized just how spectacular it would be. in the midst of rural alabama is a beautiful little community called Gorham's Bluff, that overlooks the valley and the water. it really is beautiful up there. but, it is quite funny that such an event took place in such a location. beth looked beautiful, of course, and it was so fun to see old friends.

and... i had the great privelage of meeting tara guerard of soiree events and two of her partners, kate and martha. how exciting. i guess you could say it would be like a photographer meeting ansel adams, or an artist meeting van gogh. i am just in wedding, design, floral, cake, music bliss today.

here are the pictures. however, they won't do it justice. i can't wait for liz banfield's (the photographer) pictures to come.

we will start with the rehearsal dinner. you can go to my mom's blog for all events of the weekend. she definitely kept a running commentary of the wedding all weekend like it was breaking news. that's my mom for ya.

mom and i before the dinner.

my oldest sister, ann, and me.

and the wedding by soiree.

pathway to the ceremony.

this was a gift from beth to her parents... an artist to paint the wedding. her parents can now hang the beautiful painting in their house.

my mom and the mother of the bride (in marchesa, my goodness she was beautiful)... best friends.

the ceremony in the ampitheater.

cocktail hour.

i don't have any good shots of beth in her first dress... but if you look closely behind the cake, there she is.

notice the rounded banquette seating.

outside tents for drinks, and beyond that you can see the transition space for cocktails and hors' douvres.

notice the seersucker tablecloths, and of course, beautiful peonies.

childhood friends at the end of the night, with beth... (in her reception dress.)
