what a week.

So, I had an amazing weekend. I saw friends from Marannook, in fact... 5 girls spent Friday night with me. What a fun sleepover it was. It was so refreshing to talk to such dear people. Then, Saturday, I went home for the first time this semester. Yay. It was a relaxing weekend. I saw Ellie and Luke, who both looked older... obviously. I wish I had more time with them, some time to really win them over as a fun aunt. Much of the weekend, I was pretty tired. I have been battling some fatigue and exhaustion lately... due to stress and poor diet. So, I couldn't be too much fun with them. But, Thanksgiving, I'll have some bonding time. Although, they did find the $1.00 masks I bought at Target to be fun. They were a little cloth pig mask, and a tiger mask. Oh, how cute they were on Ellie and Luke! It was good time with my mom. We went to antique shops and Wal-Mart, and she made me some yummy, healthy food, and we watched some TV together. That sums up good times with Kate and her mom. Then, I returned on Tuesday morning to Auburn University. Wham. I had a lot to do. I did prepare this weekend... making flash cards for Thursday's test and e-mailing guests for Thursday's recruit party and studying up for fellowship group. But, apparently it was not enough. The last two days were marathon days. A big test, homework, hosting and leading fellowship group, work from 9-3, chapter, and hosting a Marannook recruiting party. I will sleep hard tonight. It was so good to see friends tonight, though from my training staff at Marannook. This weekend I will work, but no major plans. I love having guests, but it will be a nice break to come home to a house that doesn't have to be cleaned, and I'll just watch a little TV. Ok... lyrics and a recipe for the day.

Recipe:

Pumpkin Chess Squares (I wish I took a picture)

Base...
Spice cake mix
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg
- mix together, pat in bottom of greased pan

Filling...
8-oz cream cheese
2 eggs
1 can pumpkin
dash or 2 of cinnamon
5 c. powdered sugar
- pour on top of crust

bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

This was an experiment, and a good one! Yum yum. Yes, everything I make these days is pumpkin or spice something. I love everything spice and everything Fall... I am milking the season for all it's worth.

Lyrics (what an encouraging song in the midst of busyness and tiredness)

Ten Thousand Angels - Caedmon's Call

how long you have traveled in darkness weeping
no rest in language, no words to speak
but there in the wreckage beneath bricks and bindings
love has come, love has come for you

against the night sky of your waiting
your face is like starlight when he walks in
everything worth keeping comes through dying
love has come, love has come for you

so lift up your heart now, to this unfolding
all that has been broken will be restored
here runs deep waters for all who are thirsty
love has come, love has come for you

ten thousand angels will light your pathway
until the day breaks fully in the East
they will surround you and make your way straight
love has come, love has come for you
love has come, love has come for you

Everything about this song I love. It is the theme of my life. Yes, I've seen bondage and darkness, but when He walks in all is light and all is restored. I love Him.

"The LORD your God is in your midst,
A victorious warrior
He will exult over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy." - Zephaniah 3:17-19

my cookies didn't turn out so well. They tasted great, but they were very messy. I feel like I did something wrong. They were very damp? I don't know if that is the best way to describe them. So...I didn't serve them. Maybe I will try this new recipe for next week's group. Or maybe I will buy break and bake chocolate chip cookies. We'll see how I am feeling on Thursday.

Kate, I'm so glad you like the apron!!! I'll love to make you one, or you can have the one I made - and the placemats - any color request, or do you want the same fabric as Ann's? Love MOM

One more comment. I was behind on your posts. I do believe that wedding cake is one of my favorites. Heck - maybe we could even do that - with practice. Ought to be collecting cake stands. I've wanted to - but just always talk myself out of it. MOM
