what was on my mind before wake forest happened.

and it still doesn't want to leave.

have you seen slumdog millionaire?

i know that i am not original to loving this movie, but oh my goodness i do. i had not seen it in a while and remembered it being one of my favorites, therefore i requested watching it while at the beach. it is one of those movies that just sticks with you. everything about the story is beautiful. i love films that so depict the truth of the depravity of life, but still have great redemptive qualities. i want a hard movie, a movie that speaks the truth of every day life but i always want a film that leaves you with hope. that is exactly what this movie does. but, it has an incredibly love story tagged along with it. i am a tried and true romantic, and i am not going to try to deny it. therefore, jamal's love for latika is truly heart wrenching. did i mention the
amazing children in this film? they are beautiful and want to break your heart just as much as jamal all grown up. india is such a beautiful place and i want to visit it some day so bad.

but, one more thing that really gets to me. children really live lives like those in this movie. they live in poverty and their childhood is ripped away from them as they basically fight for
survival. i remember when the look this one little girl gave me when i was in china. she could not have been more than five. but, the look on her face looked nothing like a five year old. she gave me a deceptive, pleading look of a teenager or 20-something year old who could trick me into giving her money. i remember i could not shake that look from my mind. i remember seeing a man standing secretively behind a car while he sent a ragged little boy across the street to ask for money. i watched the little boy pleading to everyone with no qualms at all, as the fully grown man kept looking behind his back to see how the boy was doing. i really, really pray that one day God will allow me to go overseas and help those living in poverty. whether that be in china or india or wherever else He may want me to go. i don't know if that's a true
desire of God's heart for me... but i know it is something i long to do one day.

ok, and on a less serious note. the adorable couple from slumdog millionaire date in real life. they are just precious.

and, the music is wonderful. the first is the ever popular, paper planes, with some clips from the movie. the second is just a beautiful song from the movie, latika's theme.

i heart sandra.

tonight was just fabulous. the fashion was beautiful, the hair and makeup was stunning, the right people won, the wrong people didn't win. overall, wonderful. and i had fabulous company.

i think my friends were a little confused when i jumped and screamed when sandra won. honestly, i was a little surprised with my reaction myself. i was just very, very happy. she gave a wonderful speech and she looked GORGEOUS. i was equally happy that james cameron did not win. i am just not a fan of him... i think he is a little bit too cocky. and typically i'm not a "girl power" kind of girl... i'm actually quite the opposite... but tonight i was pretty thrilled that kathryn bigelow won as the first female best director. loved it.

ok, fashion...

so my top 5 all look fairly similar, especially the top 2. but, hey they are my favorite so i am glad there was two of them.

1. my favorite... Jennifer Lopez in Armani Prive

2. Amanda Seyfried, again, Armani Prive

3. Sandra Bullock (loved, loved the hair and makeup) in Marchesa

4. Cameron Diaz (again, loving the hair and makeup) in Oscar de la Renta

5. Penelope Cruz in Donna Karen Couture (it looked even more beautiful on TV)

and the men looked really good tonight too. some of my favorites...

my celeb crush, zac efron (i promise i'm not 14 yrs. old. he's cute.)

mr. darcy, colin firth...

ahh, ryan reynolds...

the fabulous matt damon...

do ya'll agree??

more impressed with the SAGs.

so, i did not even know that the SAG awards were coming on last night. i went to dinner with several girls from RUF, a few i had not even met before. well, me and one of the ALFA quadruplets (they are freshmen this year in RUF) quickly hit it off. we were quickly recalling every red carpet dress we have loved from the last several years. she informed me that she was missing the SAGs and i was ashamed to say i did not even know they were on. when i came home tonight i looked up some pictures and i must say many of the dresses were much prettier to me than at the golden globes. here are my favorites...

diane kruger reminds me of my favorite red carpet dress, ever... michelle williams in vera wang at the academy awards. so, obviously i adored it!! (funny story... i googled the michelle williams dress and actually found it from my own blog, and i just copied and pasted back onto my blog.) ^

marion cotillard ^

christina hendricks (her dress is lovely, but i just think she is gorgeous) ^

kate hudson... still in white, but much better ^

julie benz... the hair is too pageanty, but a beautiful dress ^

i could not find a better photo, but i think nicole kidman's dress is gorgeous. her hair looks wonderful too. one of my favorites for her in a long time.

my favorite dresses from the first red carpet of the season...

...the golden globes. overall, i was not thrilled with the dresses from the night. and most of the dresses that were my favorite, many fashion critics did not like. however, i did think that these actresses looked beautiful.

it's already been ten years?

so, the first decade of the millenium, 2000, is coming to an end. is this shocking to anyone else? many magazines are talking about the best fashion from the decade. so, i'm no fashion pro but i have definitely been loyal to watch the red carpet for the past ten years. here are some of my favorite dresses from 2000-2009.

- jennifer lopez in a vintage gown (worn by jackie kennedy) at the 2003 academy awards.

- kate bosworth in stella mccartney at the 2009 costume institute gala.

- penelope cruz in versace at the 2007 academy awards.

i think this may be my favorite dress, ever. michelle williams at the academy awards in this gorgeous Vera Wang gown.
